One of the state's dog rescues is unable to take in any more pooches unless it can secure financial support on a regular basis, as it needs about $1400 a month to cover food alone.

Border Collie Rescue, Rehome and Sanctuary Tasmania has rehomed 42 dogs since it became registered last March.
The sanctuary's owner Rachel Spillane has been rescuing the breed for about eight years before she started the official sanctuary last year.
Currently, she has 31 dogs in her care but is unable to take in any more until regular donations can be secured.
"I've got 20 dogs currently that are classified as my dogs or sanctuary dogs. I've got a mixture of dogs that have got special need and health issues, 10 are deaf and about half of those also have vision issues," she said.
"I've got 10 dogs in the rescue park at the moment. One of them is deaf and I'm hoping that he will find an amazing home. Our primary focus is the dogs. The rescue dogs are like my dogs. No one gets treated differently here, they all sleep inside my home, they get fed the same food."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Ms Spillane said they went through about ten 20 kilogram dry food bags each month at a cost of about $1000.
"On top of that, these dogs also get things like eggs, vegetables, chicken wings, chicken carcasses, all that sort of stuff as well, so they have a bit of variation in their diet," she said.
"It is expensive to keep this many dogs and provide a good quality of life for them while they're here, I could feed them cheaper food and some people have said that but I want them to be healthy and the best dogs they possibly can be.
"A lot of them have already had a [bad] start to life, and you know I want them to be the best dogs they can so they get fed well and properly here."
A book was sold to raise funds for the rescue last year, but Ms Spillane said the funds were used to complete bigger projects for the dogs, such as a new shade area and exercise yard, and regular donations were needed.
She said they raised about $550 a month from regular donations, but it was falling short of covering the monthly food bill.
"A lot of the donations have been one off donations, and they're great, but what I'm really hoping is for regular donations. It means I know how much money I've actually got to be able to pay the bills, to be able to pay for food, and the other needs," she said.
"We're very fortunate that we have Mowbray Vet on board, helping us with a discount with our vet work and without that we would be really really struggling and our adoption prices would be a lot higher."
