Organiser, 20-year-old Will Blackaby said he was excited to bring the event to the picturesque area.
"I wanted to put a new triathlon on the scene ... I think I'm one of the youngest in Australia to run one," he said.
"A couple of mates were talking about how great a location Greens Beach is and how no one ever did anything about it, so one weekend I decided to do it."
The sprint distance triathlon comprises of a 750m swin, a 20km bike ride followed by a 5km run.
"The swim starts at the cove, the ride heads up the hill towards Clarence Point and the run goes along the waterfront," Blackaby said.

There will also be a tri stars event on the day for younger triatheletes.
While this is his first time organising an entire triathlon unto itself, Blackaby said he had plenty of experience to draw from.
"I was in the Launceston Tri Club committee ... and I've helped out with school triathlons," he said.
"I've taken my knowledge of all those different races and tried to put them into this race.
"Obviously with COVID it's been a bit more challenging - first year's always the hardest, but once it gets up and running it becomes easier."
I know and love the area and now it's exciting to be able to go back and do it in a triathlon.
- Jake Birtwhistle
Launceston native and World No.3 triathlete Jake Birtwhistle said he was excited to be participating in the inaugural event at a location that's near and dear to him.
"It's exciting ... I'm kind of a semi-local - I used to spend all my summers down there as a kid," he said.
"I know and love the area and now it's exciting to be able to go back and do it in a triathlon.
"It's going to be a good place for a triathlon ... it'll be good for people who don't often see triathlons or participate in them much to kind of see it all unfold from that shop area."
Blackaby said a decent amount of people had already signed on to participate for the triathlon, which is set to start at 8.30am on January 24.
"The course is nice and flat, a few hills that'll challenge people but apart from that it's perfect - I can't understand why there hasn't been a triathlon there before," Blackaby said.
"I'm expecting just under 100 people to enter.
"I've already got quite a few entered which is quite strange considering every usually leaves it until the last moment.
"It's going to be great down there, I think it'll be 26 degrees on the day so I think it will be perfect."
