A Waverley man did not plead when he faced the Launceston Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with the murder of Reedy Marsh man Michael Hawkes on January 12.

Robert Harold Gerard, 47, was also charged with wounding Judith Anne Hawkes by allegedly hitting her on the head with a club.
Defence counsel Patrick O'Halloran appeared on behalf of Devonport barrister Greg Richardson and applied for all matters to be adjourned without plea until January 27 at 9.15am.
Mr Gerard did not speak during the brief appearance except to confirm his name.
Magistrate Ken Stanton adjourned all matters to that date.
Mr Gerard was also charged with the common assault of a man in Launceston on January 12 and was charged with stealing the same man's Toyota Tarago.
He was also charged with the aggravated burglary of a home at Maloneys Road, Parkham, on January 13 and charged with stealing a jacket, boots, alcohol, keys, a bucket and a knife to a total value of $490.
