Tasmania Police are thanking the quick efforts of the public after a 16-year-old female was rescued from the water in the vicinity of Policemans Point at Ansons Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the teenager was bodyboarding in the area, when she was caught in a strong current at approximately 3.15pm and was swept around 100 metres offshore.
Police resources were deployed from Scottsdale and St Helens, including St Helens Marine, with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter also activated.
A member of the public entered the water to assist, and with the help of a nearby recreational vessel, the teenager was rescued at approximately 3.45pm.
Police say the girl was shaken but uninjured as a result of the incident.
Anybody who is planning on entering the water is urged to spend time looking for rips and other hazards before heading out.
