A Hobart couple are more than $1.5 million richer after checking a TattsLotto ticket they received as a Christmas gift.
The husband and wife duo, who wished to remain anonymous, returned from a holiday and checked the ticket.
They said they were shocked and hadn't come to terms with the lifechanging win.
"We received the ticket as a gift from a family member for Christmas, but we've been away in our caravan and had left the ticket behind," they told TattsLotto officials.
The couple won a total of $1,578,947.37 from the division one entry.
The ticket was unregistered, with a family member alerting the couple that there was a mystery winner.

"Our family member called us and asked us if we had checked the ticket because they saw there was a mystery winner who hadn't claimed their prize, they said it could be you," they said.
"We said we doubt it and didn't think much more of it."
When the couple got home from the trip and finished unpacking they checked and discovered they were now millionaires.
"We'd been over a million dollars richer for a week and didn't know it," the couple said.
"Our brains are full of everything we can do with this win, we don't really know how we are going to enjoy it just yet."
The entry was purchased at Nextra Channel Newsworld at the Channel Court Shopping Centre at Kingston.
Owner Michael Ditcham said he was thrilled the winners had been united with their prize.
"We are so pleased our winners have discovered their win and can now spend time planning on how they will enjoy it," Mr Ditcham said.
