As they have done previously, Mona Foma will hold an industry briefing night on January 12 at the Earl Arts centre.
In attendance on the night will be Mona Foma event organisers, including curator Brian Ritchie, as well as Visit Northern Tasmanian and Cityprom representatives.
The night provides businesses with the chance to hear from Mona Foma event organisers and the event team about how they can capitalise on increased visitation the the region and a thirst to spend money.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mona Foma Business development and sponsorship manager Angelique Brcic said the usual processes like being able to make use of a Mona Foma decal for shop windows would be in place.
"The demographic of Mona Foma is so broad. The age range of our attendees ranges from babies all the way through to 80-year-olds," she said.
"There's a real opportunity for businesses to leverage the people that we bring into the city, and locals exploring their city in a different way."
She said Mona Foma visitors typically spent about eight nights in the region of the event, while spreading their wings around a broader area, and said the longevity of their stays meant businesses further North than Launceston also had the opportunity to make the most of the event.
But, Ms Brcic said, 2021 provided a unique opportunity - particularly to food and drink venues.
"This year we've deliberately reduced our food and beverage options across event venues to drive visitors into local businesses," she said.
"That provides a real opportunity for local businesses because there is very limited food and beverages available at festival sites this year."
Ms Brcic said businesses had made use of the initiative in the past by naming food and drink options after the festival or using festival inspiration to decorate their shop fronts.
The event will kick off from 5:30pm on the night, tickets are free and are available at https://launcestontickets.com.au/event/12385.
