The Garden Island Creek home went up in flames after an outdoor gas cooktop was left unattended inside.
Tasmania Fire Service crews from Cygnet, Deep Bay, and Middleton were called to the blaze just before 6.30pm on Monday.
It was understood the residents were home at the time, but nobody was injured in the fire.

Investigators determined the fire was accidental, with the damage bill estimated to be $500,000.
Tasmania Fire Service South West District acting station officer Tim Holland said barbecues and grills designed to be used outdoors needed adequate ventilation to allow toxic fumes to escape.
"Cooking that requires the use of solid fuel or gas should only be performed outside unless the appliance is specifically designed to be indoors," he warned.
TFS said the house had working smoke alarms, and was insured.
