If the holiday season is looking a little quiet, the Launceston International Film Festival will help change that. Film festival director Shaun Hume said he created the festival to put some life back in to the community. "The idea was to bring people out of the woodwork and try get and get some of the local community together," he said. However, Hume said surprisingly he got less interest from local filmmakers and more from international artists, including those from Brazil, Poland, France, Germany and Spain. In other news: "It's quite a good mix really. There's some horror, there's some comedy, there's some drama." The film festival will be held on December 29 at Sawtooth Ari. There are two sessions - 4pm and 7pm. Each session runs for 90 minutes and has a 20-30 minute intermission. The event is only for those over 18. To book visit eventbrite. The festival is free.
