Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said 2021 was expected to be another bumper year for the city.
"We think there's a lot for Launceston to look forward to in 2021, and plenty to be excited about," he said.
In other news:
"We'll be continuing infrastructure projects like the redevelopment of the Launceston Road Safety Centre, the northern suburbs recreation hub, and upgrades for Churchill Park and the Albert Hall.
"We'll also be progressing CBD projects like the Launceston Bus Interchange and Birchalls redevelopment ... [and] continuing work on Launceston's bid for the FIFA Women's World Cup."
Cr van Zetten said it would also look to implement its cultural strategy and develop the next stage of the Launceston City Deal, which would include a range of projects for the city.
The council approved more than $215 million worth of planning applications in the 2019-20 financial year and he said he hoped the investment would continue in the city in 2021.
"There's no doubt the year was dominated by the COVID-19 pandemic which emerged in early 2020, and which forced many businesses to close their doors.
"In the private sector, there are some exciting private projects including the redevelopment of the Gasworks site, the progression of the Fragrance Hotel, the future direction of the former TAFE building, and some proposals which are yet to be announced," he said.
