Police at the scene confirmed the ambulance was travelling through the intersection of Goderich and Forster streets just before midday when another driver "failed to give way" coming in a different direction.
The ambulance did not have a patient at the time.

The crash occurred in front of McDonald's Invermay.
The ambulance was struck to its rear-right corner, and the occupants were taken to hospital for observation but there did not appear to be serious injuries, according to police.
The other vehicle involved was being towed from the scene.
The road was blocked to north-bound traffic, with vehicles diverted.
