A valiant effort from the Greater Northern Raiders (6-230) was not enough to stop Kingborough (3-233) from coming to town and taking the win.

The Raiders would start their batting innings strong thanks to red-hot all-rounders Sam O'Mahony and James Simpson, who set the tone with 28 and 30 runs respectively.
While middle-order batters Miles Barnard (67 off 108 balls) and Cooper Anthes (54 off 69) would bat a solid innings, the stingy Kingsborough bowling meant the Raiders only had 230 runs after 50 overs.
Raiders captain Oliver Wood said while it was a solid performance, he would've liked to see a higher, harder-to-reach total posted.
"For us, 230's not been a bad score but in the last couple of weeks it has been overrun," he said.
"For us as a group it's about taking that next step ... we're maybe 25 runs short of where we needed to be to be comfortable.
"It was pleasing to see O'Mahony and Simpson start off the back of their great starts last round and then Barn [Barnard] and Cooper to go about the way they did was really pleasing."
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT:
Visiting Kingborough would waste no time in ripping the Raiders' total to shreds. Opener Riley Backhouse would start bleeding the total, striking 86 runs of 126 balls, including five fours.
Mowbray addition Jono Jones (1-45) would see an end to Backhouse's banditry, preceeded by a Wood (1-58) wicket in fellow opener Connor O'Brien.
Kingborough then looked to their own firecracker in Jason Shelton, who continued his bullish batting against the Raiders.
"Obviously when you break 200, you're never dissappointed with that but it's really only another 20 or 30 runs to make it a different game."
- Oliver Wood
Shelton would post 93 off 124, leaving the Knights needing 30 runs from Dylan Hay in the middle to see them to a seven-wicket victory.
"One of the points of difference in the game you saw with Shelton and his score ... if we can have someone score that, it probably would've gone a long way to winning the game I reckon," Wood said.

The Raiders will go on a holiday break until early January.
