The Scorchers posted 6-158 off 17 overs before rain halted play for over an hour with a revised six-over target of 76 set for the Stars - who also played a damp match against the Hobart Hurricanes in Launceston last season.
Seven balls, 10 runs and the prized scalp of Marcus Stoinis later, the returning rain became too much and the match was abandoned.
New Zealander Colin Munro (49 off 36 balls) and captain Ashton Turner (39 off 17) did the most damage for Perth with the bat while part-time spinner Nic Maddinson (2-8) and second-gamer Liam Hatcher were dangerous with the ball for Melbourne.
