But at a damp match at the Wynyard showgrounds, Launceston's Cameron Lynch found some recompense from an otherwise dreary afternoon.
The all-rounder opened for Launceston and whacked a century on Wynyard.
"I was pretty pleased with myself," Lynch said.
"It was nice to bat with a few of the guys, make some good partnerships with a few blokes in the top order.
"Then it was nice to go and get to triple figures."
But this wasn't even Lynch's first century this season, scoring one against Ulverstone early November.
He said he's hit three in his A-grade career.
"You never really get to a point where you're certain it's [scoring a century] going to happen," Lynch said.
"But once you get to 50-odd, you feel like you're seeing the ball quite well and you're having good partnerships with the guys - then it starts to get a little easier."
Opening partner Dilan Sandagirigoda also hit for a half century against the Tigers.

- Cameron Lynch
Alas Lynch's mighty effort did not culminate in a victory for Launceston, with the match being abandoned due to the aforementioned miserable weather.
Results:
Launceston 6-263 (Lynch 100, Sandagirigoda 55, Smith 2-61, Poole 1-32) drew with Wynyard (Smith 37, Bowen 30, Humphrey 1-15, Smith 1-18) match abandoned.
"It would've been nice to finish off with a win but saying that we were two overs short of getting the match in," Lynch said.
"It would've been quite lovely to come up with a win."
Lynch's club in Launceston sit in pole position in Cricket North and lead the chase for the Greater Northern Cup.
"We're going along quite nicely, everyone's performing at the moment," he said.
"I was looking at the stats earlier and everyone in our top-six running order is in the top-10 run scorers in the competition at the moment.
"We're going along nicely and looking for forward to the next challenge."
Lynch would be named player of the round.
His two centuries have him second behind South Launceston's Nathan Philip whose aggregate of 457 runs puts him head and shoulders above the competition.
