The Latrobe Boxing Club champion was sent to the canvas by Hunt's left hand in the third round, and while Woods beat the count, the referee stopped the fight seconds later as Hunt began landing more blows.
The TKO decision came after Woods had won the second round with several telling punches, and his coach Craig Woods said complacency may have crept in.
"I would have given the first round to Hunt, but Luke definitely won the second, and maybe by getting into our stride like that, we thought everything would be alright and entered a bit of comfort zone," he said.
"Both boxers wanted to win the early rounds, so the pace was solid, but it dropped a bit in the third and Hunt caught us with one and that's all it takes in boxing.
"Luke's never been hurt like that before, and while it wasn't a surprise that one of them was going to go down, I didn't think it would be us.
"It alters our plans for the future a bit, so we'll absorb the loss then sit down as a group and work out where we go from here.
"But I think it will be the same story as before - everyone will want to avoid Luke and Hunt because they know they are the best two boxers in the division."
The result takes Woods' professional record to six wins and three losses.
