A 300-gamer who has coached the senior men's side on three separate occasions, Powe will co-coach with this year's under-17 coach Steve Clark as the NTFAW expands to 11 sides.
The 2000-10 NTFA team of the decade member said his daughter Tahlia was one of 20 players to have already registered for season 2021 and hopes to convince his other daughter, Keely, into lining up in the blue and white at some stage next year.
MORE FOOTBALL: Bring back rep footy, says Dornauf
"My daughter's playing in it so that's another motivation and since I've been involved with the senior footy for a long time it was about giving something back to my family as well," he said.
"My family's been strongly involved with footy right through my career here and have always been strong supporters.
"[Tahlia] has been a strong sporting person but has never actually played footy and always wanted to play so now she gets the opportunity to do it with a lot of her friends."
The Roos have already had 25 players attend training ahead of the upcoming season where they will join Hillwood and Longford as first-year outfits.
Powe said he and Clark would take a patient, long-term approach to getting the team off the ground and employ an enjoyment-first outlook.
"We realise it's a huge thing starting a new footy team, but it's big for the community and we strived to be a community-based club so we're really pushing it," Powe said.
"It's not going to be about winning or losing - it's about building a strong culture and an enjoyable place for people to come.
"To come into it new, it's not like when you're coaching men's footy where you start thinking 'I know this player's playing here and this player's playing there'.
"It's a bit raw with where you play them, but it's probably not a bad thing though because you're coming in with no expectations of who you're playing and you just want to see the girls enjoy it and have fun."
Fixturing for the 2021 NTFAW season is yet to be announced.
