Argentina's Diego Maradona died aged 60 on Wednesday from heart failure, prompting tributes from fans all over the world.
Tasmanian Minister for Sport and Racing Jane Howlett took a moment in a parliamentary committee to add her tribute to "Marando" to the mix, a moment which was captured on film and circulated online.
"... the passing of one of the World's greatest football players, Diego ... Marando," Ms Howlett said, eyes glued to her notes.
Labor Member for Franklin David O'Byrne posted a video of the gaffe to Twitter shortly after, accompanied by a pithy caption and a woman chuckling.
It was a lighter moment in a week that has seen ministers scrutinised on a range of serious issues before budget estimate committees.
