November 27 marks Black Friday - one of the biggest and busiest days on the retail calendar, and there's bargains galore waiting to be snapped up by shoppers.
The tradition of Black Friday sales started in America - after Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
In other news:
People would crowd shopping centres after their dinner to bag the best bargains - and the tradition has spread across the world ever since.
Launceston businesses are getting behind the day - with everything from footwear to fashion, jewellery and electronics slashed to sell.
Indulge Contemporary Silver Jewellery in Brisbane Street are getting ready for a busy weekend.
Store owner Rebecca Zuj said it is the second year the business had offered a special deal for customers on the Black Friday weekend.
"We took past last year for the first time and it went really well," Ms Zuj said.
"We really like being involved with the other stores in Launceston, so many take part now.
"Everyone is looking for a bargain before Christmas, customers love a sale, so it's a good opportunity for all involved.
"We'll have 20 per cent off our watches, 10 per cent off full priced jewellery and an extra 10 per cent off all of our sale jewellery so people can start shopping early."
House of Shoes owner Dianne Bondaruk is also taking part in Black Friday sales.
"We're offering 25 per cent off of a selected range of our new season styles," Ms Bondaruk said.
"Last year was our first year, and it went really well, it's also about trying to grow our online presence and build on that, so we're offering it both in store and online.
"For us, we don't go on sale very often so this is a time for our customers pre-Christmas to snap up a bargain for any gifts for friends and family - or themselves."
