Early investigations indicate a white ute, being driven on a gravel road by a 16-year-old, lost control on a right hand bend and crashed into an embankment about 4.30am.
The impact caused the the ute to roll a number of times, with the vehicle's tray separating from the body of the car, police say.
Two of the four occupants, all teenage boys aged between 16 and 17, were ejected from the ute on impact.
The third teen was pinned under the vehicle and had to be extracted by Tasmania Fire Service.
All three were transported to Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries.
Police say speed, alcohol, inexperience and not wearing a seatbelt were all contributing factors in the crash.
The road remains closed while police investigating the crash scene.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage is asked to contact Launceston Police Station on 6777 3945 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
