Multiple locations across the state and country hosted events tasting local gins, with Launceston's event bringing together local distillers Abel Gin Co. and Turner's Stillhouse, along with McHenry Distillery from Port Arthur.
Abel Gin Co.'s Natalie Fryer said she was delighted to take part in the world record attempt.
In other news:
"We're all queued up in venues across the country, from here to North Queensland, to try and have as many people simultaneously drinking great Australian craft gin with tonic," Ms Fryer said.
"We sold this event out really quickly, that's how much in demand local gin is, we're really chuffed."
Justin Turner from Turner's Stillhouse said it was a great opportunity to showcase their product nationally.
"It really supports the craft gin scene, especially in the north of the state," Mr Turner said.
The record result is yet to be announced.
