Police were called to a dispute between neighbours on Wards Court at Middleton about 10.20pm on Tuesday night.
A man and a woman were at a neighbouring property, police say.
Here, it's alleged the woman crashed a vehicle into a shed, while the man used a chainsaw to injure the neighbour.

Police say a 59-year-old man received significant injuries to his arm.
He was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.
A 52-year-old woman and 60-year-old man have been charged with committing an act intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
They will appear in court at a later date.
Police have reassured the community this was an isolated incident, linked to an ongoing dispute.
