Former mountain bike world championship representative Sam Fox put his rivals to the sword on his home trails at Trevallyn. Fox was the only rider to complete 10 laps in Launceston Mountain Bike Club's annual four-hour enduro. Held on the stunning trails at Trevallyn Nature Reserve, the event attracted 80 competitors, many training for upcoming state (December 5-6) and national (March 8-14) titles at Maydena. Another gun Launceston rider, Riley Cowling, won the under-19 male solo race with nine laps while Brooke Lendvay claimed the solo female title with eight laps. The solo masters 40+ category proved the most competitive with Kurt Arnold one of five riders to complete nine laps (along with Gary Jordan, Scott Russell, Micheal Wilson and Nelson Clark) but claiming the fastest time. Astrid Ketelaar (seven laps) won the female masters 40+. In the pairs categories, Daniel Aurik and Ryan Bott won the male (10 laps), Maya and Ross Martin the mixed (eight laps), Chris Jones and Anthony Axton (nine) the 40+ and Ben Hockey and Fergus Simpson (eight) the juniors. The Manion brothers, Vinnie, Monty and Mathew won the teams event (nine). LMBC's weekly twilight series will be at Kate Reed Reserve on Wednesday and back at Trevallyn on November 25.
