A veteran of 17 seasons in the NBL, the Burnie-born coach has led the Southern Huskies and the Hobart Chargers in recent years and hopes to be in the mix when JackJumpers coaching appointments are made in the coming months.
"Talking to the CEO they're hoping to have a head coach in by Christmas - they've obviously got to work through a process as well," Stewart said.
"They're starting at the top with a lot of NBA assistant coaches and trying to attract the best talent they can around the world, so it's basically biding my time at the moment to see what opprtuntinues come up with that but I definitely want to be involved 100 percent.
"That's where my passion lies - basketball and coaching.
"At what level or how it comes about, I do want to be part of that program moving forward and I'm working my way through that at the moment on what comes up - I will be applying once the roles become open."

Despite the Chargers' 2020 NBL1 season being called off, Stewart has been busy establishing a new business venture with Chargers women's coach Mark Nash and ex-president David Bartlett.
The trio recently completed their first Shot Lab - a squash court converted into a shooting practice arena - in Kingborough and hope to have more on the way soon.
"We've just started that up and membership's gone through the roof, so now we're looking at putting multiple sites in each area - we'll probably come to Launny soon," Stewart said.
"If you go around Tassie and even Australia, squash courts have become pretty extinct - there's not many people playing the game.
"So we sat down and said 'what can we do with these?' so [we] put a ring up, polish the floor and put a three point and foul line in.
"The kids can go and buzz themselves in 24/7 - a bit like Zap Fitness - and go and get shots up."
The JackJumpers will compete in the 2021-22 NBL season after securing a licence in July this year.
