It's been close to twelve months since our last issue, a time that has seen tremendous change globally, and due to the COVID-19 response, a period that has fundamentally shifted Tasmania's tourism industry.
With a lot of grit, a long winter and some sheer determination, we're very happy to see our borders lifting.
So welcome back!
Tourism Tasmania CEO, John Fitzgerald, perhaps said it best that "Tasmania is excited to welcome back visitors and provide them with a much needed holiday."
And what a holiday you can have.
Here at Travelways we have always been focused on shining a light on the full breadth of Tasmania, and some of the little-known experiences dotted from top to tail.
In this edition you'll find a few of our favourite things to do, ranging from the best east coast beaches to lay your towel (page 28) to Maeve's guide to climbing Mount Roland in the state's north-west (page 22).
You'll also find out what's on this summer, and some of the events to add to your must-see list.
Summer is one of the best times to visit Tasmania, when daylight hours extend well past 9pm and the weather offers both hot days and cool evenings.
These range from Mona Foma's much anticipated arts line-up to a range of gardens that have re-opened.
We are also excited to see the Sydney to Hobart back, minus the huge fan presence, which adds a vibrancy to the Hobart waterfront at the end of every year.
Summer is one of the best times to visit Tasmania, when daylight hours extend well past 9pm and the weather offers both hot days and cool evenings.
So enjoy exploring the state, or for those vicariously planning a trip we encourage you to book that ticket. With COVID-safe planning and stringent controls in place, Tasmania is in a very secure place to welcome you to our shores.
It's been a long year, but we can't wait to show you around once again.
