Treasurer Evie Wood said they would like people to dress in their finest attire for the Out of the Ashes banquet to celebrate the return to some sort of normalcy.
"The name came because we thought, 'we're having it at Phoenix Restaurant and the phoenix rises from the ashes and we are coming out of the ashes of COVID-19'," she said.
"We just wanted to make it a bust out event. Let's have this banquet, let's have this amazing happening of artwork on display... and let's have people writing poetry."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Attendees can view the artworks on display from 6:30pm and write poetry on the spot inspired by the artwork. The banquet will be served from 7:30pm.
Rebecca Young, of West Tamar, and a poetry performer, said she finds poetry therapeutic and the event will be a great way to network, meet local artists, and bring the community together.
"It's a really positive thing that we can actually have these events, go and meet people, and share ideas, opinions and artworks," she said.
Chris Rattray, an artist involved in the event, said he prefers to think of himself as more of a storyteller than an artist.
"I want people to be inspired by something I make and tell their own stories from it," he said.
