He later attended her unit in Launceston and again allegedly touched her and exposed his penis.
The 57-year-old man pleaded not guilty to one count of indecent assault at the library and three counts of indecent assault and one count of aggravated sexual assault in the woman's unit on May 23, 2017.

Defence counsel Patrick O' Halloran said the defendant denied that he ever sexually touched her in any way, shape or form. He said his client had been at the library that day.
The jury heard from two women who said that they had been touched in another Northern Tasmanian library in late 2005.
A woman, who was 14-years-old at the time, said she had been reading a book when a man came over and "put his hand down my jacket and touched my breast".
"He gave it a squeeze. He said 'shhh'."
A second witness, who was 17-years-old at the time, wept as she recalled a man coming over to her in the library.
"He wandered over and stood off to my left and asked me what was written on my T-shirt," she said.
"I straightened the shirt so it was easier to read and that's when he rubbed hard down on my boob."
Both women said they had not known who it was at the time but now knew him to be Ashley Baverstock.
Crown prosecutor Virginia Jones told the jury that the evidence from the women could be used as tendency evidence.
"The state says it is evidence of a tendency of the accused to act in a particular way," she said.
"That is of a mature man to approach girls and touch breasts over the top of clothes."
In a first interview with police the latest complainant, then 24, said she had gone to a reading class at the library.
"I was having a read of a book, I was," she said.
She said he approached and touched her over the top of her dress on the boobs and vagina and tried to hug her.
She said he visited her unit about 8pm that night and she made him chamomile tea.
"He touched me on my boobs and vagina ... I didn't know what to do about it," she said.
"He pulled his trousers and flashed his penis at me."
She said he had blue undies on. He was at the unit for about eight minutes.
She said she had seen him near the unit in the past.
In her opening address, Ms Jones said Mr Baverstock had committed aggravated sexual assault.
The trial before Justice Robert Pearce resumes on Wednesday.
