Supportive Affordable Accommodation Trust executive officer Ralph Doedens said the two developments will provide safe places for people with disabilities to live away from home.

He said in total 12 people would be living at the two developments with one room extra room in each residence for a staff member to sleep.

"There is a desperate need for people with disabilities to have their own home to live in," Mr Doedens said.

"A lot of them are being supported by ageing parents who aren't sure what will happen to their loved ones when they pass away.

"There is a huge waiting list of people with disabilities who want to move into a home of their own and get the support they need."

The two developments have generated social media discussion on local community pages with concerns being raised about having communal housing in the area.

Mr Doedens said there was no need to worry and hoped the community would embrace the developments and the residents.

"They are just regular people like you and me. They have some support needs only they aren't going to cause any problems to the neighbourhood," he said.

"It would be nice if the community would embrace them and made them apart of the community."

The two seven bedroom residences will be located at lot 13 and 30 Diamond Park Estate, Perth.

Development applications for the two proposed residences are available for public comment on the Northern Midlands council website until October 23.
