Premiers in 2018 and wooden-spooners last year, the Blues lost just one game - to North in round eight - en route to Saturday's 3.4 (22) to 2.7 (19) victory.
Reigning premier North Launceston led for all but a quarter of an hour on a rainy UTAS Stadium deck before Hinds drew two high free-kicks in the space of a minute.
The first fell short from the 50m arc but the second - from a slight angle and 35m out - sailed through.
Two key intercept marks from defender Zach Morris helped the Blues run out the final four minutes as the siren sounded with the ball in their half-forward line.
"The first one I knew I was a bit out of my range - I was just trying to get it as close to the line as I could," the 18-year-old Hinds said.
"The second one I was a bit more confident because it was a bit closer and I got it home. I've dreamed about it as a kid - to actually do it on the stage in front of everyone, it means a lot."
North fired the first shot in an at-times feisty contest as Jack Lanham got out the back in the first term and Declan Chugg stretched their lead to 13 points early in the second.
But Chugg's set shot would be their last major of the game as Launceston kept on coming.
Casey Walker-Russell pulled back the first before an opportunistic Liam Canny snap levelled scores.
The Blues had the majority of the play in the last term and it was fitting that the valiant contested ball efforts of ruckman Hamish Leedham, who won the Eade Medal earlier this week, were rewarded with the medal for best on ground.
"It's been a massive week - I didn't think I'd win that medal, I didn't think I'd win this medal - and I'm super happy with the premiership medal," the 24-year-old said.
"It could have gone to four or five different people - Zach Morris taking three or four big marks in the last quarter, Jayden Hinds kicking that goal, pressure from the forwards, Bowen Pearce and Jules James as tall defenders - I'm just super proud of the boys."
North had several half-chances to extend their lead in the third but were unable to convert.
First-year Blues coach Kane Sanders said the conditions meant the game was always going to come down to a single kick.
"It was whoever was going to take that kick and make it so we were lucky Jaydo Hinds kicked that goal and allowed us to hold on," he said.
"I'm proud of them all - I asked them at the start of the game to give me everything they had, to come in off the ground and be absolutely spent and win, lose or draw I would have been happy.
"To get the win at the end was just icing on the cake so I couldn't be prouder of them."
