LAST year on World Environment day the Premier proudly stated that our natural environment was of major importance to Tasmania.
This year he is saying that it is OK to simply excise one third of the declared nature reserve at Westbury and destroy the viability of the whole for it to become the site of the Northern prison. Calling it a shovel-ready infrastructure project rather than the critical natural asset that it is.
This is blatant hypocrisy.
How will we trust those in government to ensure the continued existence of even the smaller patches of our precious natural inheritance.
What hope for sound and responsible custodianship of Tasmania's outstanding places of rare and highly rated world heritage value while he is underestimating the intrinsic value of what Tasmanians love?

HOW can we address the problem of mental health when no one can or will provide the help that is needed?
Even when someone is suicidal the services that claim to be there to help do not want to get involved. No wonder some are taking their own lives. There is simply nothing out there for those in need.

Tom Bellchambers coaching Penguin
IT WILL be great for local football to have ex-Essendon and former Tasmanian back home as coach of Penguin.
What a great boon for our football code.
Brady Clarke, Burnie.
IT WILL be a sorry old city if we lose two great stores like Rockman's and Best and Less. Best and Less have been a stand by for mothers and grandmothers shopping for children's clothing for many years.
In fact we used to go to Devonport to shop before they came to Launceston.
Rockman's has a store in my suburb and handles a wide range of ladies clothing.
Hopefully a landlord will sign a lease for one or both of these stores.

Removal of Items from Family Graves
WHY should our family be put through this? They deserve some happiness even if they are not here. Please don't make us take our important things away from our very much loved ones

YOUNG people and health workers who actually get COVID-19 suffer badly for weeks and say it's the worst flu they've had.
Old man Trump gets over it in three days.
My money says he never got it at all, and it's just another hoax to gain US voter support.

Six months to death
SIX months to death proposed amendment to VAD legislation is not helpful.
Let terminally ill people make their own decisions without some authority deciding when they have suffered enough, or will have gone close enough to death to qualify for VAD.
