CA will hold its AGM on October 29, when former NSW Premier Mike Baird is set to replace Jacquie Hey on the board.

Long-serving CA director Michael Kasprowicz resigned in June, creating another vacancy.

Ian Healy is considered the frontrunner to replace his former teammate Kasprowicz on CA's board, but the wicketkeeper and his fellow Queensland Cricket directors are yet to make a final decision after meeting on Tuesday night.

Vanessa Guthrie, who became the Western Australian Cricket Association's deputy chair in 2016 and sits on the boards of Santos and the ABC, looms as another potential incoming director at CA.

Eddings has revealed he will ask state associations to approve the addition of a fourth independent director to what would become a 10-person board.

"All the directors have indicated to me they're keen to support it, they know Vanessa's the outstanding candidate," Eddings told ESPNcricinfo.

"It's very exciting to have Mike Baird come on and Vanessa. We've already got a good board, but this gives it more diversity and also geographic diversity too.

"For a range of reasons some of the state directors have come and lived in Melbourne for career choices. Having Vanessa on board from WA will be great.

"We felt it (adding a 10th director) was a prudent thing."

Eddings has another year to run on his term as chairman.

"With any board you're looking at succession plans, we've already got a number of people on our board who can take over as chair," he said.

Eddings and his board came under pressure from disgruntled states earlier this year amid the sport's coronavirus-impacted financial crisis, during which they clashed over funding cuts.

CA, which removed Kevin Roberts as chief executive in June, remains locked in a standoff with free-to-air broadcaster Channel Seven over a broadcast contract worth $450 million.
