The trial of a man who has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Jake Anderson-Brettner is unlikely to be heard before March 2021, the Supreme Court in Launceston heard.

Jack Harrison Sadler, 26, is alleged to have murdered Mr Anderson-Brettner in August 2018 at Riverside.
He appeared by video link from Risdon Prison and was represented by Mark Doyle on behalf of Devonport lawyer Greg Richardson.

In a directions hearing Justice Robert Pearce asked whether a trial was possible in the February sittings next year.
Crown prosecutor Peter Sherriff said that the March sittings were more likely.
Justice Pearce asked how long the trial was anticipated to take and suggested there would need to be an agreement for a judge to sit longer if the trial was expected to last longer than the four weeks scheduled for the sittings.
He adjourned the proceedings until February 1, 2021.
