The Migrant Resource Centre North has launched a new program, aiming to raise awareness of breast cancer detection in women from non-English speaking backgrounds, by combining sewing skills with informal conversation.

"United in Pink" program coordinator Gabriela Zampini said she hopes the success of the first session will encourage more people to attend.
"We've had some really great conversation while they've been sewing their hijab," she said.
In other news:
Further workshops will be run for Napoli and Arabic speaking women, who will then wear their creations to information sessions with BreastScreen Tasmania.
"We want to ensure that all women, regardless of their background, are booked in for testing and screening, and spread that message," she said.
