With gun back Jake Smith already tackling much bigger opponents on a weekly basis, the Blues called on utility Jamieson House to play just about the only position he was yet to master in his still-blooming career.
Named best on ground in his first outing against Glenorchy, the 20-year-old midfielder-forward has played every game this season in defence bar for spending a half in the ruck against North Hobart.
House has looked increasingly at home in the new role down back and will be tasked with taming either Toutai Havea or Harry Richmond in Saturday's preliminary final clash with Lauderdale.
Launceston coach Mitch Thorp said the ex-Wynyard High student's willingness to sacrifice his own game for the team had been crucial to the Blues' success in 2020.

"Jamo and I have a particularly strong relationship," Thorp said.
"His football in the past has been as a mid and as a forward, but what I've loved is his maturity to understand that he's needed to play as a defender this year and his season has only got better.
"He hasn't played a lot as a defender and we're now really starting to see a mature strong man and the boys love him.
"He's a very popular teammate and he's going to be important in finals."
Making his State League debut for Burnie in 2017, House arrived at Launceston in 2018 before spending 2019 in the SANFL with Woodville-West Torrens.
