A talented touch football player and the Kangaroos' second Tornadoes basketball signing after Tayla Roberts, the 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Launceston.
The 184cm utility was excited to be selected as the sole Tasmanian among 57 picks on Tuesday night.
"It's pretty surreal, I'm pretty lucky," Brown said.
"I went to football training tonight with Launceston, got off the park and came home like I usually would, turned on the draft while I was eating my dinner and I was lucky enough to get my name called out.
"So a pretty low-key night, I'm not going to lie, but definitely a good night."

Brown has missed just one TSLW game in 2020 after joining Launceston in the wake of the Tornadoes' NBL1 season being called off.
She had played just one season of football - with Ulverstone in 2017 - before signing with Ange Dickson's Blues.
"I've come from a basketball background so I guess you'd say it's a shock but I'm very excited, I've been working on my football so I'll be keen to see where it goes," Brown said.
"My phone's absolutely blowing up - I don't think I've ever had so many notifications in my life.
"Everyone's proud and it's nice to make them proud."
Brown joined a long list of Launceston's AFLW success stories including ex-Carlton Blue Courtney Webb, Collingwood's Abbey Green, North Melbourne-listed pair Daria Bannister and Mia King and Burnie's ex-Roos Chloe and Libby Haines.
The Kangaroos welcomed Brown on Tuesday night as the sixth Tasmanian on their list for season 2021.
"Brooke has great range on her kicking and really strong fundamentals for a player who is relatively fresh to the sport," North AFLW list and performance manager Rhys Harwood said.
"Brooke has shown the capacity to play through all three zones with Launceston this year, to real effect.
"She has significant upside, and will give us some great flexibility in our squad, both for the short and longer term.
"We've had our eye on Brooke for a while, and are rapt to be able to add another talented Tasmanian to our squad."
