It was West who got away to the stronger start, forcing penalty corners at either end of the first term but neither side would break the deadlock in the opening half.
Regular Dragons suspect Samantha Lawrence started strong as did Marian Kiah Williams but it would be young gun Lucy Vandenberg who started to minimise Lawrence's influence.
Just under halfway through the third term Kira Johnston put the persistent Bloods on the right track, capitalising on a deflection as West struggled to clear the ball.

From there, the chances flowed with another close call two minutes later before West had a go at their end - missing a penalty corner.
But City Marians wouldn't make the same mistake early in the fourth as captain Monique Moore slid one past Sam Sefton after the keeper saved the first shot.
City continued to put the pedal to the metal and pressure West's defence as they missed several tight opportunities.
They would be rewarded with just 80 seconds remaining as West's desperate keeper-less defence, having pulled their goalie minutes earlier, came unstuck and gifted Moore a penalty corner.
The skipper, who was listed as best on ground for her victors, made no mistake and ensured the 3-0 result.
Lawrence was named GNLW's best and fairest after the match.
