While the team's bowling held visiting North Hobart to 199 runs, the Raiders could only conjure 42 of their own at Windsor Park on Saturday.
The team fell victim to a bowling onslaught at the hands of North Hobart's state representatives Thomas Rogers (six wickets) and former Launceston bowler Alex Pyecroft (four).
This included a pair of golden ducks for Riverside duo Cooper Anthes and James Simpson.
Launceston's Alistair Taylor topped the team with 15 runs including two fours.
IN OTHER NEWS:
There were glimmers of optimism for the team on the other side of the ball.
Carlton and Melbourne Stars addition Evan Gulbis claimed a wicket, two maidens and allowed 29 runs in his Raiders debut.
Fellow Carlton colleague Brayden Stepien also took a catch in his first game in orange, only days out from being released from mandated quarantine.
Westbury's Oliver Wood also impressed in his first match, notching four maidens and two wickets.
North Hobart's Jordan Silk led the team with an impressive 70 runs including 10 fours. Pyecroft was the only player from the game to notch a six in the game, finishing with 20 runs.
The Raiders will face University of Tasmania at Windsor Park in round two while North Hobart will take a week off. The women's side will play its double-header against New Town on Sunday.
