The name was officially announced by the NBL on Thursday morning with an brand reveal video and the unveiling on membership packages but several eagle-eyed pundits noticed social media movement on Wednesday night.
JackJumpers was one of five names - Mountaineers, Timbers, Tridents and Pride the others - trademarked by the NBL in August before the options were gradually reduced each week following the league's long-running naming competition.
The Timbers got the cut first as the Mountaineers and Pride fell by the wayside - leaving the Tridents and JackJumpers to fight it out before Thursday's announcement.
TASSIE JACKJUMPERS
Described in the brand reveal video as a whole new force that's fierce in spirit and feared by many, the Tasmanian side received a swarm of support from all over the state.
JackJumpers chief executive Simon Brookhouse described the announcement as a landmark day for both state and national sport.
"Synonymous with Tasmania, the JackJumpers will be proud, bold and fearless. The JackJumpers will show that you don't need to be the biggest to be the best and to drive fear into your opponents," he said.
"The JackJumpers logo covers all corners of the state and embodies Tasmania's challenger spirit and passion. Our green and gold colours pay homage to Tasmania's rich history and landscape.
"The JackJumpers are energetic, fierce and ready to attack and defend with force well beyond their size. Like Tasmania itself, the JackJumpers will be unforgettable and a team all Tasmanians can embrace."
Basketball Tasmania chief executive Chris McCoy echoed the sentiment.
"This is a tremendously exciting day for our sport after many people were involved in bringing this to fruition," he said.
"The Basketball Tasmania membership looks forward to throwing massive support behind the NBL in Tasmania and I personally look forward to working very closely with Simon and his team.
"The NBL and the JackJumpers will drive great exposure for our sport, provide an aspirational target for our young boys into the NBL along with our girls into the WNBL.
"Our aim is to be the number one sport in Tasmania within five years and today's progress is another step in the exciting journey."
The side's foundation memberships, which can be purchased from https://membership.jackjumpers.com.au/, start at $49 for children, $99 for adults and $199 for family ahead of the side's 2021-22 entry.
Brookhouse is looking to get all Tasmanians on board with the JackJumpers and said the foundation membership is a perfect way to start.
"The JackJumpers are set to embark on an exciting journey towards the 21/22 NBL season and we can't wait to have our passionate foundation members join us on every step of the way.
"Foundation memberships will give all Tasmanians exclusive benefits regardless of where they live as JackJumpers march into the NBL and begin a new era for Tasmanian sport."
