Charges of possessing a slave and trafficking in persons were dismissed in the Supreme Court in Launceston on Tuesday.

Counsel representing the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Patrick O'Halloran told Justice Robert Pearce that an indictment would not be filed against a 44-year-old woman or a 53-year-old man, both of Launceston.
"The Commonwealth is discontinuing prosecution and wish the charges to be dismissed and the accused to be discharged," Mr O' Halloran said.

Justice Pearce made the order and adjourned an application for costs by counsel for the pair until October 29 at 4.15pm.
Court documents reveal that the pair were originally charged in relation to possessing a slave and trafficking in persons between October 5, 2018 and February 29, 2019.
