The man pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court in Launceston to persistent family violence between November 2019 and May 2020.
The relatively recent addition to the Criminal Code requires the Crown to prove three separate incidents of violence.

Crown prosecutor Virginia Jones outlined a series of assaults after the man and a 54-year-old woman began a relationship last year.
In late 2019, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the car.
In January 2020, he was drinking and began abusing her with names "slut, dog, c...".
"During the afternoon the complainant was sitting on the couch in the lounge room and the accused was yelling at her," Ms Jones said.
"He then grabbed her by the throat with both hands and squeezed.
"The accused then punched her with his right hand to the left side of her face on the jaw and then to the side of her face near her temple."
The court heard that she told her daughter "he nearly killed me ...I needed to knee him in the balls to get him off me."
She fled the house and was forced to sleep in her car.
He moved into her house in February 2020.
On April 3 he started drinking and abusing her and accusing her of sleeping around.
"During the evening the accused grabbed the complainant by the ankles pulled her off the bed and threw her onto the floor," Ms Jones said.
"On the way down the complainant's left foot hit a glass mirror cutting the top of her foot."
On April 30, the man headbutted the woman on the forehead and then told her she was a "lying piece of dog shit".
On May 3, he threatened to kick the shit out of the woman and stick her head in the firepot.
The next day he became angry in bed when she would not give him a "head job" and grabbed her by the arms and forced them over her head and forced her to have sex with him.
"The complainant just laid there hoping he would stop," Ms Jones said.
Shortly after he threatened to tie her to the bed and have anal intercourse with her every fifteen minutes.
She left the house and they communicated in a series of text messages in which he threatened further sexual assault.
"Well come f... me and sit on me or I'll tie you to the bed and do it myself," the court heard.
Later the same day the woman went shopping but he went inside a supermarket and got her because she was taking too long.
"When I get home I am going to punch the absolute f... out of you," he said.
Ms Jones said the complainant thought it was her only chance to escape.
She opened the car door to get out but he pulled her by the hood of her top.
"The complainant was able to get away and ran straight into the supermarket where she spoke to the owner who took her to the office," Ms Jones said.
She reached a family member by telephone who was able to collect her and take her to the police station.
"The accused was arrested on May 4, 2020," Ms Jones said.
The court heard that the man had a lengthy history of assaulting woman including four former partners over a period from 2008 to 2018.
He was also convicted of two counts of common assault against men in 2011 and 2019.
Ms Jones told Justice Robert Pearce that the newness of the charge meant no discernible sentencing range was possible.
She said the man was subject to a suspended prison sentence and made an application for it to be activated.
Defence counsel Lucy Flanagan said the man accepted he had issues with anger and that alcohol was a relevant factor.
"When work dried up [due to COVID-19] he drank more and his judgement was affected," Ms Flanagan said.
She said he had inquired whether it was appropriate to write a letter of apology.
Justice Pearce will sentence on October 2 at 2.15pm.
