Needing to win to snatch the minor premiership from Clarence, the Blues had the best of the game's chances but led by just three points at the half before some Daria Bannister magic broke the game open.
In spite of wind, rain and a late Roos major, the Blues stuck out the final term to complete a 3.7 (25) to 2.3 (15) performance that thrilled coach Ange Dickson.

"We controlled the game really well, we had the majority of the ball in our forward half we just couldn't capitalise on the scoreboard," Dickson said.
"Late in the third quarter we snuck in two quick goals through Daria and put ourselves in a good spot to finish the game off strong."
A stellar team performance was led by the midfield drive of Mia King and ever-improving ruck Camilla Taylor, while the contested marking prowess of Bannister and Brooke Brown (one goal) proved a continuous threat.
Cecilia Cameron and Kelsie Hill were dominant down back and were complemented expertly by Meg Sinclair in the final term.
"[Sinclair] presented so well off the half-forward line and in the last quarter we just told her to go back and become that extra [player] in the backline and I think she took three intercept marks which was fantastic," Dickson said.
"Our backline group played the best game they've played all year as a group, they built our wall and did everything I've been asking of them to an absolute tee.
"At the end of the game I just sat the girls down and I was pretty much speechless.
"I've asked week after week for giving your all, doing the team thing and literally everybody put their hand up and did it today, I couldn't have asked for anything more from the group."
One of three sides to sit out with the bye in round 12, Launceston will play an intra-club game next Saturday before hosting North Launceston in a do-or-die preliminary final the following week.
