With captain Brad Cox-Goodyer rested, the Northern Bombers backed their youth in against the Tigers' star-studded midfield and were well-rewarded.
Ben Simpson, Sherrin Egger, Ollie Sanders, James Curran and Baynen Lowe - all 20 or younger - made the most of the chance to get first hands on the ball.
"They spent a lot of time on ball with Brad not playing and myself and Josh [Ponting] playing a little bit more forward which was really good for them and we lost nothing," coach Taylor Whitford said.
"We probably gained a little bit if anything which is really good to see and it probably shows the direction the footy club is going as well, it's in good hands for the future.
"They're lucky enough that they've got two of the best in Brad and Josh to coach them through it and Josh did a really good job of that today in giving advice and feedback instantly on the ground."

Kicking with a persistent breeze at Kingston, the Tigers had the best of the opening exchanges but didn't make the most of their opportunities, allowing the Bombers to hit the front midway through the second term.
When they did, there was no going back.
Taking a nine-point lead into the half, the Northern Bombers blew the game open in the second half of the third term with five goals in 10 minutes.
Whitford had a hand in three of them - kicking one and setting up two others - while the side's oldest [Bart McCulloch] and youngest [Ryley Sanders] players combined for another.
Baynen Lowe finished the term with a classy running goal from 45m to follow on from a second-term effort that saw him outmuscle Sam Rice - 10 years his senior - and goal from close range.
"He's just getting better and better. There were times there he was pushing senior guys around and for a freshly-turned 17-year-old kid ... we're super happy to have him at our footy club," Whitford said.
"He's a great kid first and foremost - great family - and he's just getting better and better which is a great sign for us."
The final term began with a bang as defender Braden van Buuren slotted his first goal for the Bombers - a running 50m roost that would have made the absent Cox-Goodyer proud - and continued with ruckman Alex Lee kicking his first major of 2020.
Dan Withers put the icing on the cake with the game's last to finish with a season-high three in his first TSL campaign.
Kingborough was well-served by Mackenzie Willis and Will Campbell, who showed his class with the opener, but struggled to match the Bombers after half time.
"Probably just the back end of that second [quarter] I thought we were starting to get a bit of momentum around the stoppages and starting to get some good momentum going forward," Whitford said.
"That was able to continue in the third and we played a really good brand of footy in that last half."
