King Island sensation Stewart McSweyn has broken his second Australian record in eight days, finally claiming the elusive 1500-metre mark at the Diamond League meet in Doha.

The 25-year-old UTAS and Melbourne Track Club member shaved nearly a second off his personal best to clock 3:30.51 and claim the decade-old 3:31.06 record of training partner Ryan Gregson.
McSweyn sat behind the pacemaker until the bell when he surged away from the field in a show of strength, speed and confidence.
UTAS AC executive officer Tracy Canham said McSweyn had firmly replaced Craig Mottram as Australia's greatest middle distance running.
"The king of King Island is now arguably the king of Australian distance running," she said.
McSweyn claimed the national 3000m record with a time of 7:28.02 in Rome a week ago.
Since leaving Australia on August 11 he has also clocked 13:09.83 and 13:13:22 over 5000m in Sweden and Monaco respectively and recorded three other sub-3:35 times over 1500m.
