Both players shot to prominence on the national stage last season, with Ellis in particular attracting plenty of interest from rival teams after impressing with his bowling at the death.
But the 26-year-old, who started last season without a contract, said he was never interested in leaving his adopted home.
"Things happened really quickly for me and when offers started popping up I nipped it in the bud quite quickly," Ellis said.
"I've lived in Tasmania now for four years and I consider myself a Tasmanian, a Tiger and a Hurricane and I really didn't want to go anywhere else."
Ellis finished BBL09 with 12 wickets from his 15 games but knows the task of replicating such a performance will be tougher second time around.
"Last year I had nothing to lose as I was relatively unknown," he said.
"Now I've found my role and people have played against me, it's going to be a challenge in the second year."
Wright was a late bloomer for the Hurricanes in BBL09, but grabbed his opportunity with scores of 70 not out and 64 in consecutive games.
"I was really grateful last year to get the opportunity with the Hurricanes, so it was a no-brainer to sign on and repay some of the faith they showed with me," he said.
