Moon Cafe and Restaurant is the latest addition to the area, hoping to add a bit of optimism to a hospitality industry that continues to tackle COVID-19.

Co-owner Shekhar Shrestha said he and fellow co-owner Avishesh Lamichhane had been wanting to open a restaurant for some time.

"We've been in the food business for a long time and we've been trying to do our own business," Mr Shrestha said.

"So we came up with the idea of having a cafe and restaurant with casual dining - giving the people the food they want, including many locally sourced products."

The restaurant has a fusion-inspired menu, meaning elements from various cultural cuisines are combined.

"We're making our own creations as well, doing something different from other businesses," Mr Shrestha said.

"Lots of people have been in and like our food ... we've been really happy that people like everything here."

Mr Shrestha said the business had been well supported by locals spending natively amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It's not a good time but we think we can supply some employment opportunities to other people and focus on local tourism," he said. Fellow Quadrant Mall businesses had also been supportive of Moon Cafe's opening.

"They are really helping us a lot as we open our restaurant and giving us lots of feedback on how we can improve," Mr Shrestha said.
