After months of preparation, the performing arts students presented their take on the well-known story of The Addams Family which was able to go ahead despite delays and COVID-19 restrictions.

Teacher and director of the musical Alarna Hingston said during the pandemic the students met on Zoom and ran through their lines.

Some of the dances were also recorded so students could practise and learn choreography at home.

"By the time we got back to school and rehearsing in the auditorium, no one had scripts in their hands, everyone was ready to get physical," she said.

Ms Hingston said the students were very excited to share their eight months worth of work with an audience.

Reuben Yakubu, who plays the role of Uncle Fester in the musical , said the show was so much fun to make but it was difficult having to do part of of the work over Zoom.

"It was disappointing because as an actor you want to be in a space that lets you express yourself," he said.

He said it was a breath of fresh air once the students were able to work together in person again.

Mr Yakubu said The Addams Family was a great choice because it provided an interesting and very out there set of characters to work with.

"I can just let loose and completely go insane because that's the character, that's Fester."

The last performance of the college musical is Saturday at 2pm.
