Kylie Evans, owner of Spider's North on Lilydale Road, is unhappy with the road changes in front of her store and their potential to cause an accident.

Before a centre lane was added her customers, including a lot of truck drivers, could pull over and park on Lilydale Rd opposite her shop. However now most cannot, with only a small inlet filling the void, trucks and others have to turn around and park outside her shop in already limited spaces.

A temporary bus stop was then moved from an inlet further down the road to opposite her store, with no pull in area to utilise, forcing buses to stop in the middle of the road.

The road infrastructure was changed as part of a development on the former Rocherlea Primary School site, which was approved by the City of Launceston council in 2016.

Ms Evans said she was not told about the road changes and did not realise what was happening until it was too late.

She wants the small inlet extended and the bus stop to go back to its original spot, as it was a safety issue in its current spot. Her customers feel the same way, with about 400 signing a petition asking for it to be addressed.

"Now the trucks just drive past, they just can't stop. Fifty per cent of my trading here would be trucks," she said.

After questions were raised by The Examiner, officers from the Department of State Growth and the council met with Ms Evans.

Both state growth and the council said the situation was not easy to resolve in the short term, however they would work together to identify what could be done to improve matters.
