Allan's Garden Centre at Prospect posted on social media that it had been hit at 3.05am.
The post said a truck had spilled bulk potting mix at the front gate, then up Westbury Road towards the Bass Highway or Meander Valley Highway which leads to North-West Tasmania.
In other news:
The thief was described as being "[aged between] 21-27, long blondish hair, a big nose and a smoker as he dropped a new cigarette he had behind his ear".
"[He] must be strong to lift the heavy generator onto the truck by himself.
"We are a small Tasmanian business that relies on a good honest customer base, some one knows him.
"Someone would have seen our old truck steaming smoke along the highway at 5am .
The Examiner understands that three other premises in the area were also hit.
It is the second time the centre has been hit after a first burglary and stealing on August 31.
"The second time he has helped himself to our AEG Power Tools Rover Mulcher, Honda 30EUis Generator, Stihl Professional Brush Cutter assorted power tools and hand tools.
"He then stole our old truck a white Mazda T3500 which is unique with Allan's Garden Centre Prospect written all over it."
A Tasmania Police spokeswoman said Launceston CIB is investigating.
