Securing a place in the prestigious event by running a qualifying time in her maiden marathon exactly two years ago, Mills was one of about 17,000 to complete the race virtually last week.
Her West Tamar course took in Rowsphorn, Ecclestone and Cormiston roads, Rosevears Drive, the Nobelius Drive loop and finished up on Freshwater Point Road.
The 42.2km route featured all of the highs of lows of Boston, but made without the fanfare.
"I just picked a route that was 42.2km and made sure it was a low-key event and just went out as I would for my normal morning run," Mills said.
"[Muddy Creek Hill] was my own little version of Heartbreak Hill which is a hill on the marathon course for Boston - but I did fine up there, it's not the first time I've run it."

Mills finished the run - only her fourth marathon - in a time of three hours, 27 minutes and 15 seconds.
She has also completed distance running's ultimate test in Sydney, Hobart, and last year's Launceston marathon, where she was the first woman home.
"I've pottered around with a bit of running but it's only in the past four years I've improved," said Mills, who is a member of the Launceston Triathlon Club and Launceston Running Club.
"If you'd have said to me three years ago I'd ever run a marathon I'd have thought it was a joke.
"When I started swimming and riding as well, that's when everything changed."
The Boston Marathon had originally been scheduled for April 20, and was postponed before being called off for good in May.
Next year's race is scheduled for April 19, however, it is unclear in what form the event will go ahead.
Mills said organisers had made it easy to compete in the event virtually this year.
"Everybody who was involved in it was really good," Mills said.
"We were really kept informed with the way it was postponed and cancelled and they handled it really well."
