Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said the Apprentice and Trainee Training Fund (User Choice) was designed to create a pipeline of skilled workers at a time when it was needed most and while Tasmanians were looking for new jobs.
"Having the right skills will help Tasmanian job seekers find the career that is right for them, especially in industries that are in need of more workers," he said.
In other news:
"An apprenticeship or traineeship gives a young person the best start to their working life as well as allowing existing workers to upskill in their existing roles or to retrain in a new field."
More than 400 nationally recognised qualifications are eligible to receive funding from the program.
Thirty new qualifications have been added this year.
New qualifications include:
- Certificate III in Wine Industry Operations
- Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue
- Certicate II in Medical Service First Response
- Certificate III in Civil Construction
- Certificate IV in Legal Services
- Certificate II and Certificate III in Security Operations
The annual fund is open for applications each September.
Applications close at the end of each year.
The government has contributed $20 million to the fund for 2021.
