Subjected to a 64-point loss when the two sides met in round three, the Northern Bombers had pulled one goal back from their 26-point half-time deficit before the match ended.

"We were getting better and better as the game went," assistant coach Steven Crooks said.

"We play against sides like Clarence and they're very good at holding their structures and holding the outside of a contest.

"We do it for periods, but we're still learning to do it longer than our opposition so that's where I think Clarence got us a little bit today was on the outside, but we're working towards that.

"We're getting better at it and our pressure around the contest is improving week in, week out. Today's effort was such an improvement on the last time we played Clarence at UTAS- we can see we're starting to get results, it's just small steps."

The final three rounds will feature just four matches, with Launceston and Glenorchy both only playing once.

Crooks lamented next weekend's bye that will see his side unable to capitalise on momentum, but praised the efforts of his young crew.

"Zoe Bourne was exceptional around the ball with her second and third efforts, Carly Farrow played as a half-back in a midfield rotation and had by far her best game," Crooks said.

"Sophie Townsend was really good and then Bonnie Farrell, Maggie Cuthbertson and Ella Maurer among others were really good."

The match marked North Launceston's second abandoned game in two seasons.
