A departmental spokesperson said staff from Inland Fisheries Service noticed the grating was missing on Thursday, September 10.
An IFS spokesperson said the matter has been reported to Tasmanian Police, with the jetty to be repaired and re-opened as soon as possible.

The jetty has been cordoned off with safety tape and the IFS have updated their website to alert the community to the jetty closure.
FishTas owner Carl Hyland said the grating had clearly been stolen as the brackets had been deliberately unscrewed, with more unscrewed on the grating that remained.
Mr Hyland said the IFS immediately deemed the jetty too dangerous to use and closed it.
